- Texas and New Mexico State are meeting for the first time in either program's history. The Longhorns are 3-1-0 all-time against current members of the Western Athletic Conference (WAC).
- The woodwork has been especially unkind as of late to the Longhorns. In the last match against No. 11 Georgetown, Texas freshman Lexi Missimo struck the crossbar with a blast at 31:52, while fellow rookie Trinity Byars later hit the left post with a shot at 85:56. During double OT at Florida (Aug. 22), Missimo had a 109th-minute blast tipped up by the keeper and off the crossbar before catching the rebound out of the air.
- Texas is leaning hard on its talented youth so far in 2021. In all, freshmen have made 15 of 33 possible starts (45%) for the Longhorns through two matches, while freshmen and sophomores have combined for 20 of the 33 starts (61%). Against UCF and Florida, Texas started five freshmen and two sophomores in each match (Freshmen - Lexi Missimo, Tati Fung, Holly Ward, EmJ Cox, Trinity Byars; Sophomores - Kelsey Hranicky, Lauren Lapomarda).
- Texas enters Thursday needing just three more wins to reach 300 all-time program victories. The Longhorns overall record is currently 297-200-54 (.588).
- Texas holds a 28-22-4 overall record in matches following a loss (that total doesn't carry over losses from end of a season to the next) under the guidance of head coach Angela Kelly. UT is 0-0-1 in such situations so far in 2021.
- The Longhorns have found success on corner kicks so far in 2021. Counting the exhibition win over Abilene Christian and its three regular-season matches so far, Texas has now scored three of its four combined goals off corners. After Texas netted two off the set piece against ACU, senior midfielder Carlee Allen registered UT's first official 2021 goal with a leaping header to drive home Lexi Missimo's service at the 60:01 mark at Florida.
- Five of Texas' eight 2021 signees played together for Solar SC (Byars, Missimo, EmJ Cox, Miller, Stanley) under head coach Derek Missimo (Lexi's dad), while McFarland, Nobles, Claros, Lapomarda, Sydney Cox and Pace are also previous Solar FC products. Tatiana Fung grew up playing alongside Missimo and Byars on teams in both California and Texas, while Holly Ward was part of the same Vancouver Whitecaps program that produced Grosso, Regan and Akindoju.
