No. 1 Volleyball tops Notre Dame, 3-1

AUSTIN, Texas – No. 1 Texas Volleyball closed out a tough four-match homestand with a 3-1 win over Notre Dame, 25-16, 20-25, 25-17, 29-27, on Sunday at Gregory Gymnasium.
The Longhorns improved to a perfect 7-0 with their second four-set win and will now head on the road to play Texas A&M on Friday, Sept. 17 at 6 p.m.
Skylar Fields led Texas with a season-high 18 kills, while hitting .368 in the match. Logan Eggleston had her fifth double-double of the season with 15 kills and 10 digs.
Brionne Butler had her best match of the season, finishing with 12 kills and six blocks. She hit a season-best .556 and was completely dominant in the first set with six kills and three blocks.
Jhenna Gabriel dished out 45 assists, had eight digs, two blocks and one kill. Nalani Iosia finished with 15 digs, five assists and two aces.
Texas cruised to a 25-16 win in the first set and jumped out to an 9-3 lead in the second set before the Fighting Irish mounted a rally and evened the match.
The Longhorns comfortably won the third set and looked to do the same in the fourth before it got interesting late. Texas held off two set points before finally winning it 29-27.
