No. 9 Women’s Golf up to fifth place after round two at ANNIKA Intercollegiate

LAKE ELMO, Minn. — The No. 9 Texas Women's Golf team carded a 3-over-par 291 on Tuesday to move up three spots into fifth place (291-291=582, +6) after the second round of the ANNIKA Intercollegiate presented by 3M at Royal Golf Club. Graduate transfer Brigitte Thibault led the Longhorns with an even-par 72 on Tuesday and is tied for 20th place in the individual standings at 2-over-par 146 through the first 36 holes.
Playing the back nine first on Tuesday, Thibault made the turn at 3-over-par but responded with a birdie on hole 1 and an eagle on the par-five hole 9 to get back to even-par for her round. Senior Sara Kouskova is the top Texas individual in a tie for 11th place at 1-over-par 143 (70-73).
The 12-team field at the season-opening ANNIKA includes 10 squads that are ranked in the top 16 of the preseason Division I WGCA Coaches poll. No. 10 South Carolina holds the team lead at 10-under-par 566 (278-288), while No. 3 Wake Forest is second (572) and No. 2 Duke is third (573). Julia Johnson of Ole Miss owns the individual lead at 10-under-par 134 (67-67), five strokes ahead of Arizona State's Calynne Rosholt and South Carolina's Hannah Darling (139).
The ANNIKA Intercollegiate concludes with 18 holes on Wednesday, Sept. 15. Texas will be paired with Alabama and Arizona for Wednesday's final round, and tee times will begin at 8 a.m. CT from hole 1.
The Lineup
- Senior Sara Kouskova posted a 1-over-par 73 on Tuesday and is tied for 11th in the individual standings at 1-under-par 143. Sitting at 3-over after a double-bogey on the par-three 12th hole, Kouskova recorded a pair of birdies (No. 10, par-4; No. 18, par-5) on Tuesday.
- Graduate transfer Brigitte Thibault paced the Longhorns on Tuesday with an even-par 72. She is tied for 20th place in the individual standings after 36 holes at 2-over-par 146.
- Freshman Bohyun Park carded a 1-over-par 73 for the second straight day and is tied for 20th place at 2-over-par 146. She recorded three birdies (No. 17, par-5; No. 2, par-5; No. 9, par-5) during Tuesday's second round.
- Junior Sophie Guo tallied a 1-over-par 73 on Tuesday and is tied for 32nd place with a 36-hole total of 3-over-par 147. Guo carded three birdies (No. 11, par-4; No. 14, par-4; No. 16, par-3) in her second round.
- Sophomore Bentley Cotton posted a 3-over-par 75 for the second straight day and is tied for 43rd place with a 36-hole total of 6-over-par 150.
