No. 1 Volleyball sweeps Rice

The Longhorns hit .388 in the match and cruised to a 3-0 sweep of the Owls in Houston.
HOUSTON, Texas – No. 1 Texas Volleyball cruised to a 3-0 win over Rice, 25-14, 25-14, 25-14, on Wednesday night at Tudor Fieldhouse.
The Longhorns were outstanding from start to finish and improved to 9-0 on the season. Texas hit .388 in the match and held Rice to an .042 hitting percentage.
Logan Eggleston led Texas with 13 kills and added two aces, one block and seven digs. Skylar Fields and Brionne Butler both had eight kills in the match and Molly Phillips added seven kills.
Jhenna Gabriel finished with 29 assists and five digs, while Nalani Iosia finished with 16 digs and three assists.
Butler led Texas to an emphatic start, finishing with four kills and one block in a 25-14 first set win. Melanie Parra finished off the second set with a four-point run from the service line, including three aces. The third set was just like the first two and finished with another 25-14 score.
The Longhorns complete their non-conference slate with an undefeated record and will now turn their attention to Big 12 play. Texas hosts West Virginia on Thursday, Sept. 30 at 8 p.m. and Friday, Oct. 1 at 7 p.m. at Gregory Gym.
