No. 2 Volleyball sweeps Texas Tech

The Longhorns cruised to a straight-set win over the Red Raiders at Greogry Gym.
AUSTIN, Texas – No. 2 Texas Volleyball picked up its second sweep of Texas Tech and 11th overall this season, winning 25-18, 25-7, 25-9, on Wednesday at Gregory Gym.
The Longhorns (16-1, 8-1) hit a season-high .506 with a season-low three attack errors and held the Red Raiders to just an 0.90 hitting percentage. Texas also had a season-high tying 10 service aces and allowed only one ace against.
Logan Eggleston had an efficient match with 13 kills and no errors, while hitting .565. Molly Phillips finished with 11 kills on 15 swings for a .733 hitting percentage.
Madisen Skinner added nine kills, while Kayla Caffey had four kills and four blocks and Asjia O'Neal added four kills and three blocks.
Saige Ka'aha'aina-Torres dished out 32 assists and had one kill, one ace, one dig and one block.
Zoe Fleck finished with 12 digs, four service aces and one assist. With her service ace total, she registered her 100th career ace.
The Longhorns led for the majority of the first set, with a strong effort by Eggleston with seven kills and a .538 hitting percentage. Texas pulled out the 25-17 win to take a 1-0 lead.
Texas dominated the second set and won it 25-7, while hitting .600 and holding the Red Raiders to a negative hitting percentage. The Longhorns held a slim 6-5 lead before going on a 15-1 run to put the set way out of reach.
The third set was more of the same, with Texas jumping out to a 7-0 lead and never looking back. The Longhorns had a .565 hitting percentage and were led by Skinner's six kills.
Texas has a quick turnaround, traveling to Kansas State to take on the Wildcats on Friday at 6:30 p.m.
