Meet Notes
Friday's first day of competition will feature a unique twist on the NCAA meet experience, with music, a DJ, a light show and swimmer introductions. The scoring for the day will combine the men's and women's points from each program for one overall score per university. Additionally, the schedule will include a 100 IM and a mixed 400 free relay.
Saturday's action will consist of the traditional head-to-head scoring with separate men's and women's final team scores.

Note: Women's 1-meter diving and Men's 3-meter diving will take place on Friday beginning at 3:30 PM with those results applied to Saturday's final Team scoring.
The Matchup
Texas and Virginia will compete in a dual meet for the second-straight year. Last year in Charlottesville, Texas' men's squad topped Virginia, 191-116, with the Horns winning all 19 events, while the women's team fell to the Cavaliers, 201-152.
A Look at the Longhorns
- The Texas men's and women's programs finished as the national runner-up at the 2022 NCAA Championships.
- The Longhorn men return eight of 12 All-Americans from the 2022 team and two honorable mention All-American honorees.
- Three members of the 800 free relay that set the American Record of 6:03.89 are among the returnees (Coby Carrozza, Carson Foster, Luke Hobson), while a pair of members of the national champion 400 free relay have returned for the 2022-23 season (Caspar Corbeau, Daniel Krueger).
- Junior Carson Foster had three top-six finishes at the 2022 NCAA Championships, winning silver in the 200 back and bronze in the 400 IM, while taking sixth in the 200 IM.
- Senior Caspar Corbeau registered a pair of top-six results, winning silver in the 100 breaststroke and placing sixth in the 200 breaststroke.
- On the women's side, nine All-Americans and two honorable mention All-Americans return for the 2022-23 season.
- Three of the returning All-Americans are divers – Janie Boyle (platform), Hailey Hernandez (1m, 3m springboards), Jordan Skilken (platform) – who helped UT post a meet-high 90 points in the diving events at the NCAA Championships.
- Senior Kelly Pash had three top-five showings at the 2022 NCAA Championships, winning bronze in the 200 free and placing fifth in the 200 fly and 200 IM.
- Sophomore Erica Sullivan won silver in the 1650 free and bronze in the 500 free.
- Junior Anna Elendt brought home silver in the 200 breast and finished fifth in the 100 breaststroke.
A Look at the Cavaliers
- The Virginia women have won back-to-back national crowns, the fifth program to accomplish the feat. The men's team finished 10th at the 2022 NCAA Championships, the third-straight top-10 result.
- UVA returns nine All-Americans to the women's team and three All-Americans to the men's team.
- Cavalier returners won a combined seven individual titles in 2022, with Kate Douglass claiming four victories, Alex Walsh winning three and Gretchen Walsh one.
- Virginia head coach Todd DeSorbo served as the United States Women's Team head coach for the 2022 FINA World Championships.
Longhorns on the International Stage
- Carson Foster and junior Coby Carrozza won gold with Team USA in the 800m free relay at the 2022 FINA World Championships.
- Foster also added a pair of world championship silver medals in the 200 IM and 400 IM.
- Junior Anna Elendt won silver in the 100m breaststoke at the 2022 FINA World Championships
- Elendt also captured gold in the 50 breast and 100 breast at the Mare Nostrum Tour – Barcelona, and Emma Sticklen won bronze in the 100 fly and 200 fly.
- Senior Janie Boyle earned silver at the FINA Grand Prix – Canada Cup in the 10m synchro.
- Sophomore Manuel Borowski won gold in the 3m synchro at the Canada Cup.
- At the 2022 Phillips 66 US National Championships, graduate student Dakota Luther won the 200m fly national title and captured bronze in the 100m fly, and sophomore Luke Hobson won gold in the 200m free.
- Junior David Johnston set an American SCM record in the 800 free of 7:30.41 at the Australian Short Course Championships.
- At the 2022 FINA World Cup - Toronto, senior Kelly Pash won the 200 fly and Elendt collected bronze in the 100 breast.

Team Rankings
Men: Texas is No. 2 in the latest College Swimming & Diving Coaches Association (CSCAA) Division I poll (October 13) with 433 points. The top 10 in the rankings include California (444), TEXAS (433), Florida (412), NC State (392), Arizona State (379), Stanford (348), Georgia (339), Indiana (331), Virginia (291) and Louisville (286).
Women: The Longhorns ranked third in the first College Swimming & Diving Coaches Association (CSCAA) Division I poll of the season (October 13). The top 10 includes Virginia (450), Stanford (427), TEXAS (406), NC State (405), Ohio State (372), Alabama (342), Tennessee (332), Southern California (322), California (321) and Louisville (308).
Storied Programs
Texas' Men's squad placed second at the 2022 NCAA Championships and has claimed 15 NCAA Championships, finished runner-up 13 times and has a total of 35 top-3 finishes at the NCAA Championship meet. UT earned NCAA team titles in 1981, 1988, 1989, 1990, 1991, 1996, 2000, 2001, 2002, 2010, 2015, 2016, 2017, 2018 and 2021.
The women's team finished as the runner-up at the 2022 national meet after placing third in 2021. Overall, Texas has claimed a total of nine national titles in its proud history. The Longhorns won AIAW national championships in 1981 and 1982. UT added NCAA team titles in 1984, 1985, 1986, 1987, 1988, 1990 and 1991.
Conference Dominance
The men's team has won all 26 Big 12 Conference titles and have claimed 43 consecutive crowns. This current streak dates back to the 1980 Southwest Conference championship. Texas has earned a total of 63 conference titles (38 Southwest Conference, 26 Big 12 Conference).
Texas women have captured 10 consecutive Big 12 Conference crowns (2013-22) and 20 overall Big 12 team titles. UT has won a total of 34 conference championships (14 Southwest Conference, 20 Big 12 Conference).
Men's Head Coach Eddie Reese
Eddie Reese is in his 46th season at the helm of the Texas program. A three-time U.S. Men's Olympic Team head coach (1992, 2004, 2008), Reese is the winningest coach in the sport's history with 15 NCAA titles. He is the only collegiate swimming coach to win an NCAA team title in five separate decades.
Women's Head Coach Carol Capitani
Carol Capitani is in her 11th season at the helm of the Texas program. She has led the Longhorns to 10-straight Big 12 Conference crowns (2013-22) and top-10 finishes at the NCAA Championships in eight of the last nine meets held. Capitani has guided UT to back-to-back top-three NCAA results, finishing as the runner-up in 2022, Texas' best showing since 1994.
