Longhorns Sweep 60m Dash at Tiger Paw Invite

CLEMSON, S.C. – Texas track and field swept the 60m dash finals at the Tiger Paw Invite on Friday night.
Junior Marcellus Moore won the men' 60m dash with a time of 6.61 seconds, moving into the No. 3 spot on the Texas all-time performer list. In his second meet as a Longhorn, Moore matched his season-best time of 7.71 in the prelims before hitting 6.67 seconds in the semifinals. His finals time also matches the seventh-fastest time in program history.
On the women's side, Julien Alfred continued her dominant season with a winning time of 7.26. Alfred recorded the fastest time in the prelims at 7.16 seconds and followed with the second-fastest time in the semis at 7.15 on her way to the event win. Alfred still holds the fastest 60m dash time in the NCAA this season at 7.10 seconds.
Freshman Kevona Davis also reached the finals and finished third overall with a time of 7.35.
Kennedy Simon took home second place in the women's 400m with the second-fastest time in the NCAA this season at 51.60 seconds. The time ranks as a personal best and is tied for the No. 5 all-time Texas performer and the 11th-best performance. Stacey-Ann Williams finished third with the No. 3 time in the NCAA at 51.78. Brooke Jaworski added her time of 54.94 to finish in the top-20.
The Longhorns finished with two top-10 finishers in the 400m dash, led by Jonathan Jones in fourth with a time of 46.30 and Jon Maas in 10th with a time of 46.87.
Willington Wright finished 11th with his time of 46.93 and Brian Herron closed out the Texas competitors at 47.34.
Kiana Lowery finished fourth in the women's weight throw with a personal-best mark of 18.48m (60-7.75), while Sean Stavinoha also added a personal best on the men's side at 16.52m.
Tyra Gittens made her first appearance as a Longhorn in the women's long jump and finished sixth (second collegian) with a jump of 6.42m (21-0.75). Darja Sopova finished eighth with a personal-best mark of 6.30m (20-8.0), while Ackelia Smith finished 10th at 6.19m (20-3.75).
For the men, Jathan Belaire led Texas with a third-place jump of 7.56m (24-9.75), a new personal best. Leo Neugebauer finished sixth at 7.50m (24-7.50) and Stacy Brown Jr. at seventh at 7.49m (24-7.00).
Texas returns to for the final day of the Tiger Paw Invite on Saturday morning at 10 a.m. ET for the men's shot put.
