No. 9 Men’s Golf concludes play at Amer Ari Invitational

Vick fires a 5-under 67 in Saturday’s final round, while Hammer ties for 15th at 9-under in the individual standings.
WAIMEA, Hawaii — The No. 9 Texas Men's Golf team posted a 4-under-par 284 on Saturday to finish in 10th place in the Amer Ari Invitational at Hapuna Golf Course. Senior Cole Hammer recorded a 3-under 69 on Saturday to tie for 15th in the individual standings with a three-round total of 9-under-par 207 (70-68-69).
The Longhorns registered a 54-hole team score of 17-under-par 847 (285-278-284). Junior Travis Vick led the charge for Texas during the final round with a 5-under 67, including an eagle on his final hole of the tournament (par-five 8th hole).
The 19-team field at the Amer Ari Invitational featured 10 squads that are ranked in the Top 20 of the latest Division I Bushnell Golfweek Coaches poll (Nov. 19).
No. 4 Oklahoma State won the team title with a three-round total of 50-under-par 814 (273-277-264), just one stroke in front of No. 10 Texas Tech at 49-under-par 815 (273-267-275). No. 2 Arizona State took third at 42-under-par 822 (268-273-281).
Eugenio Lopez-Chacarra of Oklahoma State claimed medalist honors with a 54-hole score of 19-under-par 197 (67-68-62). Texas Tech's Baard Skogen finished runner-up in the individual standings at 17-under-par 199 (66-65-68).
The Longhorns return to action when they travel to Las Vegas on Sunday, Feb. 27 through Tuesday, March 1 to compete in the Southern Highlands Collegiate.
The Lineup
- Senior Cole Hammer was the top Longhorn individual finisher in a tie for 15th place at 9-under-par 207 (70-68-69). Hammer registered six birdies and carded a 3-under 69 on Saturday.
- Junior Travis Vick posted a 5-under 67 on Saturday to tie for 23rd at 7-under-par 209 (73-69-67). Vick tallied seven birdies and an eagle on his final hole of the tournament (par-five 8th hole).
- Junior Mason Nome fired a 2-over 74 in the final round to tie for 42nd at 4-under-par 212 (70-68-74).
- Junior Will Thomson, who competed as an individual at this event, carded an even-par 72 on Saturday to tie for 45th place at 3-under-par 213 (70-71-72).
- Freshman Alejandro Gonzalez posted a 2-over 74 in the final round to tie for 87th at 6-over-par 222 (72-76-74).
- Sophomore Randall Fojtasek fired a 4-over 76 on Saturday to finish in 100th place at 11-over-par 227 (78-73-76). Fojtasek tallied five birdies in the final round.
