Men’s DMR Claim NCAA National Title

Julien Alfred sets 60m dash collegiate-record.
BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The Texas men's DMR squad set a facility record and were crowned the 2022 NCAA Indoor National Champions on Friday night.
The exciting race saw Cruz Gomez, Willington Wright, Crayton Carrozza and Yaseen Abdalla finish with a time of 9:25.20. The win gave Texas 10 team points headed into the final day of competition.
The DMR win was the second time in school history the Longhorns won the event after Leo Manzono, Tevan Everett, Danzell Fortson and Jacob Hernandez won it back in 2008.
Leo Neugebauer began the day in the heptathlon and enters the final three events in second place with 3,562 points. Neugebauer won both the long jump (7.75m) and the shot put (15.72m), while running the 60m dash in 7.03 seconds and equaling his personal best in the high jump at 2.06m. He's currently 30 points behind Kyle Garland of Georgia in first.
Carrozza earned his way into the mile final after setting a personal-best time at 3:57.62, the third-best time in Texas history. Texas also sent Yusuf Bizimana (1:47.83) and Jonathan Jones (1:47.86) to the final in the 800m.
On the women's side, Julien Alfred's personal-best time of 7.04 seconds in the 60m prelims set not only the Texas program record, but the collegiate, meet and facility record to advance to her first final. Rhasidat Adeleke also advanced to her first final after running a personal-best time of 7.17 seconds.
The pair also reached the 200m final after posting times of 23.22 and 23.06, respectively. Kynnedy Flannel also made the final with her time of 23.14 seconds.
Valery Tobias set the Texas record advancing to the 800m final with her time of 2:03.68.
Kristine Blazevica scored three teams points after her sixth-place finish in the women's pentathlon.
