Longhorn Freshman Bohyun Park ties the low round of the tournament, with a four-under-par 68, to move up into top-10.
SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. — On day two of the NCAA Championship at Grayhawk Golf Club, the No. 13 Texas Women's Golf scored a seven-over-par 295 on Saturday, and is tied for 11th place at 24-over-par 600 after 36 holes for the tournament. The Longhorns improved eight spots in the team standings following their second round performance. Freshman Bohyun Park heated up on Saturday, tying the lowest 18-hole score of the tournament with a four-under par 68, and is leading the Longhorns through two rounds. Her 36-hole score of 144 (76-68) moved her into a tie for sixth-place in the individual standings.
Playing in her first NCAA Championship, Park bounced back after a tough opening round with a four-under-par performance on Saturday to bring her back to even-par for the tournament. She is the only Longhorn to shoot in the 60s and under-par at the tournament so far. Park's score of 68 is tied for her season and collegiate best round, which was good enough to move her up 49 spots in the individual standings and catapult her into the top-10 individuals. Currently ranked No. 25 in the Golfstat individual rankings, Park is looking for her fifth top-10 finish in 2021-22. The first-year standout now has a team-leading 14 rounds at par or better and is tied for the team lead with senior All-American Sara Kouskova with five rounds in the 60s this season.
After registering back-to-back bogeys on her third and fourth holes of the day, Park picked up steam and would not register another bogey for the rest her round as she played bogey-free, five-under-par golf over the remaining 14 holes. Birdies on holes 16 and 18 put her at one-under-par through the first nine holes, while five straight pars from holes one through five helped maintain her position. Park would close out her round with three consecutive birdies on holes six through eight and a par on hole nine to cap off her four-under-par performance.
Kouskova also rallied on day two after a tough opening round by posting a one-over-par 73 on Saturday to move up 34 spots in the individual standings. Kouskova played bogey-free, two-under-par golf on holes one through nine. She is at six-over-par 150 (77-73) through 36 holes.
