Base Knocks:
- Senior pitcher Hailey Dolcini enters this weekend's NCAA Fayetteville Super Regional with 796 career strikeouts, needing just four to reach the 800-K plateau.
- Dolcini put together a heroic, old school-type performance from the circle during last weekend's NCAA Seattle Regional. Over approximately a 28-hour period, the senior righty fired 301 total pitches while tossing all 21 innings against No. 11 Washington to lead the Horns to the title.
- Amazingly, both Hailey Dolcini and her sister Camrin, a freshman pole vaulter at Nevada, will be competing this weekend in NCAA events in Fayetteville. Camrin qualified for the NCAA Women's Outdoor T&F Championships West Preliminary over May 25-28.
- Senior C/1B Mary Iakopo is currently riding a 13-game reached base streak. Over that stretch, she's hitting .436 with five extra-base hits, a team-high 16 RBIs and a 1.145 OPS.
- The Longhorns are currently No. 2 in NCAA Division I in doubles with a school single-season record 102, trailing only Louisiana (103). Janae Jefferson currently leads Texas and rates eighth in the nation with 19 doubles.
- Mike White is a perfect 12-for-12 in his head coaching career at leading teams to at least a NCAA Super Regional berth. He previously led Oregon to five WCWS appearances.
- Senior second baseman Janae Jefferson enters the NCAA Fayetteville Super Regional as UT's all-time career leader in super regional hits (10) and tied for career batting average at .556, while senior catcher/first baseman Mary Iakopo ranks as Texas' career super regional leader in RBIs (seven) and tied for the program lead in HR's (two).
- By winning the NCAA Seattle Regional, Texas advanced to its seventh NCAA Super Regional (2005, 2006, 2012, 2013, 2019, 2021, 2022) and third straight. This marks the third time that the Longhorns have gone on the road for Supers after losing two games-to-one in trips to Tuscaloosa (2019) and Stillwater (2021). UT owns a 9-6 all-time mark in the round and advanced on to the WCWS in 2005, 2006 and 2013 (made previous WCWS trips before supers existed in 1998 & 2003).
- Texas' NCAA Regional title at Washington marked the Longhorns first road regional championship since way back in 1998 when UT swept through No. 16 Arizona State and No. 6 USF in Clearwater, Fla., on the way to the WCWS.
- Senior C/1B Mary Iakopo is Texas' biggest threat with runners in scoring position. The Carson, Calif., native is currently hitting at a .433 clip (29-for-67) with RISP in 2022.
- Janae Jefferson is closing in on TWO MORE SCHOOL RECORDS.With 216 career runs scored, she needs six more to break Taylor Hoagland's (2010-13) career record of 221 runs. With 19 doubles, Jefferson needs two more to pass Paige von Sprecken (2018) & Lindsey Stephens (2016) for the UT single-season doubles record (20).
