Track and Field sets NCAA-leading 4x400 time at Cardinal Classic

Texas relays sweep the final events at the Cardinal Classic
LOUISVILLE, KY. – The Texas track and field 4x400 relays made it a clean sweep on the final day of the Cardinal Classic, as the women's time leads the NCAA.
The women of Rachel Helbling, Rhasidat Adeleke, Julien Alfred and Kennedy Simon ran the 14th-fastest time in UT history with a winning time of 3:30.55.
On the men's side, freshman Christopher Brinkley Jr., senior Jonathan Jones, freshman Kendrick Smallwood and junior Caleb Hulbin completed the sweep with a time of 3:09.37. Both relays teams set the Norton Healthcare Sport and Learning Center facility record.
Earlier in the day, Alfred opened up her 200m season with a winning time of 23.10. Texas took six of the top-10 times with Kevona Davis finishing second (23.57), Lanae-Tava Thomas third (23.65), Simon in fourth (23.81), Ezinne Abba in sixth (24.13) and Kailei Collins in eighth at 24.60.
Crayton Carrozza and Valery Tobias led Texas to a 800m sweep to close out the five wins for Texas. Carrozza won his first race of the season with a time of 1:48.65, setting another facility records, while Tobias finished with a facility record of her own at 2:08.21.
The Longhorns added three runner-up performances with Marcellus Moore in the 200m with his time of 21.29, Gavin Hecke setting a collegiate PB in the pole vault clearing 5.08m (16-8), and Patrick Piperi throwing 18.77m (61-7) in the shot put.
