No. 5 Men’s Swim and Dive defeats No. 4 NC State, 98-88

Texas swept the 200 IM and came from behind to win the 400 free relay to seal the victory.
AUSTIN, Texas – No. 5 Texas Men's Swimming and Diving topped No. 4 NC State on Senior Night, 98-88, on Friday at the Lee & Joe Jamail Texas Swimming Center.
Longhorn Divers kicked off the day with a one-two finish on the 3-meter, as Nick Harris posted a season-high score of 424.43 points to earn the victory. Noah Duperre took second after scoring 392.48 points.
Jake Foster collected the second victory of the day for Texas in the 100 breast, wining with a personal-best time of 51.85 to move into fourth all-time in UT's record book.
Carson Foster added a win in the 200 IM, leading a Texas sweep of the event. He touched the wall in 1:43.14 to pick up the victory, followed by Braden Vines (1:44.97) and Jake Foster (1:45.03).
Luke Hobson picked up a victory in the 500 free, winning it with a time of 4:13.82, the ninth-fastest time in the nation this season.
The Longhorns clinched the victory over the Wolfpack with a win in the 400 free relay, swimming a season-best 2:49.15 Peter Larson, Caspar Corbeau, Hobson and Daniel Krueger combined for the fifth-best mark in the nation this season. Krueger entered the water on the final leg in second and slowly chipped away at the Wolfpack lead to win by five-hundredths of a second.
Texas and NC State will square off again on Saturday with 3-meter diving set to begin at 10 a.m.
HIGHLIGHTS:
- Texas finished second in the 200 medley relay, as Carson Foster, Will Chan, Caspar Corbeau and Daniel Krueger combined for a season-best 1:23.77.
- Brendan McCourt took fourth on the 3-meter with 371.03 points.
- Luke Hobson placed second in the 200 free with a time of 1:31.89, becoming the fifth-fastest Longhorn in program history.
- Carson Foster finished third in the 200 free (1:32.29) and Coby Carrozza (1:34.33) placed fourth.
- In the 100 fly, Sam Artmann (46.62) placed fourth and Cole Crane (46.76) took fifth.
- Corbeau added a runner-up result in the 100 breast with a time of 52.26 and Chan took fourth in 52.54.
- Krueger finished fifth in the 50 free with a time of 19.63 and Peter Larson took sixth in 19.64.
- David Johnston finished as the runner-up in the 500 free, touching the wall in 4:14.41, while Carrozza placed fifth in 4:18.44.
- Carson Foster added a runner-up result in the 200 back with a time of 1:42.05 and Chris O'Connor took third in 1:42.48. Ethan Harder finished fifth in 1:43.74.
