No. 5 Men’s Swim and Dive tops No. 4 NC State, 80-68

Texas won five events to complete the weekend sweep of NC State.
AUSTIN, Texas – No. 5 Texas Men's Swimming and Diving defeated No. 4 NC State, 80-68, at the Lee & Joe Jamail Texas Swimming Center on Saturday to complete the weekend sweep of the Wolfpack. The Longhorns opened the weekend with a 98-88 victory over the Wolfpack on Friday.
David Johnston earned the first victory of the day for Texas, winning the 1000 free with a time of 8:41.62, just shy of his NCAA-leading time of 8:41.61.
Nick Harris added a win on the 1-meter, scoring 412.05 points to complete the weekend sweep of this springboards after taking the victory on the 3-meter last night.
Daniel Krueger followed with a victory in the 100 free, touching the wall in 42.67.
Texas swept the 200 breast, as Jake Foster picked up the win with a time of 1:53.62, followed by Caspar Corbeau in second at 1:53.71 and Braden Vines swimming a 1:56.48 to finish third.
Carson Foster dominated the 200 fly, winning with the third-fastest time in the nation with a mark of 1:40.83 and moving to number four all-time in UT history.
Texas closes out the regular season slate on Friday, Feb. 3 when they host SMU. Events will get underway at 4 p.m. from the Texas Swimming Center.
NOTES:
- Texas finished second in the 200 free relay, as Peter Larson, Caspar Corbeau, Will Chan and Daniel Krueger clocked a season-best 1:17.06.
- Luke Hobson took second in the 1000 free with a season-best 8:50.10.
- On the 1-meter, Brendan McCourt placed third with 353.63 points and Noah Duperre finished fourth with 347.78 points.
- Sam Artmann finished third in the 200 fly with a time of 1:43.23.
- The Longhorns wrapped up the weekend with a second-place finish in the 400 medley relay with Carson Foster, Jake Foster, Artmann and Daniel Krueger teaming for a time of 3:07.01.
