No. 7 Volleyball sweeps No. 21 Houston

The Longhorns improved to 8-0 in Big 12 Conference play with a sweep of the Cougars.
HOUSTON, Texas – No. 7 Texas Volleyball extended its winning streak to eight matches with a sweep of No. 21 Houston, 25-10, 25-19, 25-23, on Sunday at Fertitta Center.
The Longhorns (13-3, 8-0) hit .296 in the match and had nine blocks to complete the sweep of the Cougars.
Madisen Skinner had another outstanding match, with 20 kills and five digs and a .375 hitting percentage. Jenna Wenaas finished with eight kills and three blocks.
Asjia O'Neal had five kills and four blocks, while Bella Bergmark had four kills and four blocks.
Ella Swindle finished with 31 assists, six digs, four blocks and four kills. Emma Halter led the team with 18 digs to go with two assists and two service aces.
The Longhorns started on fire and rolled to a 25-10 win in the first set, hitting .355 and holding Houston to a negative hitting percentage. Skinner had seven kills in the opening set.
The second set was a much tougher battle as the teams were tied up at 12-all before the Longhorns used a 7-2 run to go up 19-14. Texas was able to put the set away, 25-19, to take a 2-0 lead in the match.
Texas had to rally in the third set to complete the sweep and were trailing 19-15 and 22-20. The Longhorns finished the match with a 5-1 run to close out the Cougars.
The Longhorns will head on the road again next week, traveling to Fort Worth to face TCU on Wednesday at 6 p.m. with the match broadcast on ESPN2.
