No. 8 Volleyball sweeps No. 17 Kansas

AUSTIN, Texas – No. 8 Texas Volleyball swept No. 17 Kansas, 25-16, 25-15, 25-18, on Friday night at Gregory Gym to complete the season sweep of the Jayhawks.
The Longhorns (11-3, 6-0) remained unbeaten in Big 12 play and extended their home league winning streak to 71 matches.
Madisen Skinner led Texas with 22 kills, while hitting .514 in the match. In the second set alone Skinner had 11 kills.
Asjia O'Neal had eight kills on just 13 attacks and finished with four blocks. O'Neal eclipsed the 500 career block mark and is just the fourth Longhorn to reach that milestone.
Molly Phillips and Bella Bergmark each had a team-high five blocks, and Phillips added five kills.
Ella Swindle finished with 35 assists and seven digs as the Longhorns hit .317 as a team.
Emma Halter led the back row with 12 digs and added two service aces, while Carissa Barnes finished with eight digs.
The Longhorns started lightning fast, jumping out to a 5-0 start and leading 10-2 to put the first set away early. Texas started the match with three blocks and two service aces in the first five points and rolled to a 25-16 win.
Texas went up 2-0 in the match with another dominant set, 25-15. Skinner was outstanding, leading the way with 11 kills in the set after having six in the first set.
The Longhorns trailed early in the third set before going on a 7-0 run to take a 14-10 lead. Texas never trailed again and closed out the match with a 25-18 win.
Texas will head on the road next week for a pair of Big 12 matches against Houston on Saturday at 1 p.m. and Sunday at noon.
