No. 2 Volleyball falls to No. 3 Kentucky, 3-0

Longhorns drop back-to-back matches and fall to 18-2 on the season.
AUSTIN, Texas. — The No. 2 Texas Volleyball team (18-2, 8-2 SEC) suffered its second consecutive loss with a 3-0 (14-25, 26-28, 25-27) sweep by No. 3 Kentucky on Sunday afternoon at Gregory Gym, marking the program's first sweep at home since Stanford in 2023.
Torrey Stafford and Cari Spears combined for 28 kills for the Longhorns. Stafford tallied 15 kills while hitting .342 along with seven digs and two blocks. Ayden Ames totaled six blocks, tying her season high, and five kills for Texas. Ella Swindle registered team-leading 33 assists, five digs, and two blocks in the loss. Swindle is now one assist away from 2000 career assists.
Set One: Texas dropped the opening set of the match to the Wildcats 25-14. Swindle led the team with nine assists while the Longhorns totaled 11 kills and eight digs in the set. Kentucky hit .571 with zero attacking errors for 16 kills.
Set Two: The Wildcats took set two in a close 28-26 match despite a 10-1 scoring run by Texas. Ayden Ames notched all five blocks the Longhorns recorded in the set. Swindle totaled 10 assists, and Stafford registered seven kills while hitting .417. Despite two set points for Texas, Kentucky pulled away with the favorable 2-0 lead.
Set Three: Kentucky closed out the game with a 27-25 win in the final set. Emma Halter contributed six digs while Swindle recorded 14 assists. The Longhorns offense combined 19 kills with a .333 hitting percentage.
Texas will start its two-game road trip at Gainesville to face off against No. 25 Florida on Friday, Nov. 7 at 6:00 p.m. CT on SEC Network.
