No. 7 Volleyball beats No. 21 Houston, 3-1

The Longhorns had double-digit blocks for the 11th time this season and sixth consecutive match.
HOUSTON, Texas – No. 7 Texas Volleyball picked up its seventh consecutive win, taking down No. 21 Houston in four sets, 25-21, 17-25, 25-23, 25-17, on Saturday in front of a Houston record crowd of 7,054 at Fertitta Center.
The Longhorns (12-3, 7-0) will square off again with the Cougars on Sunday at noon with the match broadcast on ESPN.
Texas hit .322 in the match and had 14 total blocks to finish with double-digit blocks for the 11th time this season and for the sixth consecutive match.
Madisen Skinner finished with 21 kills and 10 digs for her fifth double-double of the season, while hitting .362. She also added four blocks and two service aces.
Jenna Wenaas had 13 kills, while Molly Phillips finished with eight kills and five blocks. Bella Bergmark and Asjia O'Neal each had six kills, while O'Neal had a team-high nine blocks.
Ella Swindle dished out 39 assists and finished with eight digs, four blocks and three kills.
Emma Halter led the team with 14 digs, while Keonilei Akana had nine digs and Carissa Barnes added seven digs.
The Longhorns were in control throughout the first set and finished it off with a 25-21 win. Skinner led the way with seven kills, one block and one service ace, while hitting .500. As a team the Longhorns hit .324 in the set and held the Cougars to a .121 hitting percentage.
Texas dropped the second set 25-17 as Houston hit at an impressive .390 clip. The Cougars also finished the set on an 8-0 run after the set was tied at 17-all.
Houston was on the brink of taking a 2-1 lead in the match, holding a 23-21 lead in the third set. The Longhorns stormed back and finished on a 4-0 run with back-to-back blocks to clinch the set 25-23.
It was all Texas in the fourth set, rolling to a 25-17 win to finish off the match. An early 6-0 run gave the Longhorns a 10-4 lead and they never looked back.
