The Texas Longhorns return to Mike A. Myers Stadium looking to add to season win total, climb conference standings
AUSTIN, Texas – On the heels of an impressive road victory at UCF on Thursday, Oct. 5, The University of Texas women's soccer program will look for not only its 10th win on the season but also earn more points in the Big 12 Conference standings on Sunday, Oct. 8, when the Longhorns host Iowa State at 1 p.m. CT.
Glenn Davis and Jessica Stamp will serve as the match's television talent on Longhorn Network in the play by play and analyst roles, respectively.
KICKING OFF
- With her next goal, Texas junior midfielder Lexi Missimo will tie the program's single-season goals record (17) set by Trinity Byars during the 2022 season.
- When Missimo scores two more goals to set a new record, it'll mark the first time the program's single-season goals record has been either matched or broken in consecutive seasons since 2003 and 2004.
- In 2003, Kelly McDonald matched her 2002 total with 14 goals. The following season, Kelly Wilson set a new program record with 16 goals that stood until Trinity Byars scored 17 during the 2022 season.
- When Missimo scores two more goals to set a new record, it'll mark the first time the program's single-season goals record has been either matched or broken in consecutive seasons since 2003 and 2004.
- With a win on a Sunday, Texas will have won 10-or-more matches in the last six consecutive non-altered scheduled seasons.
- During the 2020-21 COVID-19 altered season, the Longhorns won seven of 12 matches.
