Beach Volleyball competes in Long Beach

Molly Phillips and Madisen Skinner picked up their first win as a pair against Cal State Northridge on Friday.
LONG BEACH, Calif – Texas Beach Volleyball returned to the mainland this week and continued its inaugural season with matches against No. 13 Long Beach State and Cal State Northridge on Friday. The matches were moved to Long Beach City College due to weather in the area.
Long Beach State swept the Longhorns 5-0 in the first match of the day.
The Longhorns put up a great fight against CSUN despite falling 4-1. The pair of Molly Phillips and Madisen Skinner picked up their first win, defeating Mikaela Maughan/Emily Sparks 16-21, 21-18, 15-6
On court No. 1, Keonilei Akana and Devin Kahahawai took their match to deuce points in both sets but fell 24-22, 24-22. On court No. 3, Marina Crownover and Jenna Wenaas went to a third set but came up just short.
The Longhorns will wrap up their trip out west with two more matches on Saturday, taking on Utah at 12:30 p.m. CT and No. 16 Stetson at 1:30 p.m. CT.
