Texas will look for its 21st straight win over UTA when Longhorns travel to Arlington on Wednesday
AUSTIN, TX – Looking for its 10th consecutive win, The University of Texas softball program will travel up I-35 to Arlington to play UTA at 6 PM CT on Wednesday, March 8. It will mark the Longhorns' first game against the Mavericks in Arlington since April 7, 2021, when UT won, 12-0, in five innings.
Wednesday's game will also mark the first true road softball game for Texas (17-2-1) this season. The Longhorns opened the season with four neutral-site contests in Clearwater, Fla., before playing the following 16 consecutive games at Red & Charline McCombs Field.
LEADING OFF
- A win over the Mavericks would give the Longhorns a 10-game winning streak, marking the fifth consecutive season — all under head coach Mike White — with at least one double-digit winning streak.
- A 10-game winning streak would be the longest by a Texas softball team since winning 14 straight during the 2021 season: March 19 to April 11.
- Last season, Texas had a 16-game unbeaten streak as a 10-10 tie against Minnesota in sandwiched between a five-game winning streak and a 10-game streak.

- Texas has never lost to UTA in softball games played in Arlington as the Longhorns are 7-0 against the Mavericks in such games with the latest being a 12-0 five-inning win.
- Of the seven games played in Arlington between the two softball programs, four have ended either earlier or later than the seventh inning.
- Entering Wednesday night's action, Texas is ranked second in the country in team batting average with a .383 clip and seventh in the nation in scoring average with a 7.80 mark.
- Only Oklahoma (.391) has a higher team batting average.
- Viviana Martinez is currently tied with Arkansas' Reagan Johnson for the most hits (33) by a Division I softball freshman student-athlete.
- Martinez' hit total is only six shy of Wichita State's Sydney McKinney for the top spot in the nation.
- Under fifth-year head coach Mike White, Texas is 3-1 in its first true road game of the season.
- The three wins: 11-4 at No. 15/17 Arizona State (March 1, 2019), 6-4 in eight innings at No. 1 UCLA (Feb. 27, 2020) and 9-0 in five innings at Houston (March 3, 2021).
- The one loss: 5-4 at No. 2 Alabama (March 4, 2022)
- Viviana Martinez (33), Leighann Goode (31) and Mia Scott (30) are the only softball student-athletes in the Big 12 Conference to have been credited with 30-or-more hits entering the Longhorns' game at UTA on Wednesday night.
- Four Division I softball programs (LSU, Texas, UCLA and Utah) have multiple student-athletes with 30-or-more hits through Monday night's action, but Texas is the only program with three.
