Texas to return to Red & Charline McCombs Field for first time following seven-game road tilt
AUSTIN, TX – For the first time in 20 days, The University of Texas softball program will play a game in front of its home fans at Red & Charline McCombs Field when the Longhorns begin a three-game Big 12 Conference series against Kansas on Friday, April 14.
Friday night's game, which is presented by Clean Simple Eats, is scheduled to begin at 6:00 PM CT, whereas Saturday and Sunday's contests are slated for 4:30 PM and 12 PM, respectively.
All three conference games can be seen on Longhorn Network with David Saltzman and Cat Osterman in the booth. Andrew Haynes will have the game's action on the radio airwaves with the game being heard on 105.3 FM in Austin. Additionally, Sunday's game can also be heard on Sirius XM Big 12 Radio on channel 375.
LEADING OFF

- Atwood's current nine home runs are tied with Katie Cimusz' total from the 2022 season.
- Heading into the weekend series, Viviana Martinez will be looking to add to her team-leading 40 runs batted in.
- Martinez' 40 RBI are the most by a Texas softball true freshman student-athlete under fifth-year head coach Mike White.
- The previous mark was 38, set by Mia Scott during the 2022 campaign.
- Additionally, Martinez is one of just three Division I freshman softball student-athletes to have at least 40-or-more RBI at this point in the season.
- She is joined by Indiana's Taryn Kern (50) and UCLA's Megan Grant (42) on the plateau.
- Martinez' 40 RBI are the most by a Texas softball true freshman student-athlete under fifth-year head coach Mike White.
- Leighann Goode and Viviana Martinez combined 110 hits on the season are the most by a pair of Division I freshman softball student-athlete teammates.
- Goode (57) and Martinez (53) enter this weekend's series against the Jayhawks sitting in first and second place — among Division I freshmen — on the national hit leaderboard.
- First-year Longhorn Mac Morgan's active 12.0 scoreless inning streak is the second-longest streak by a Texas pitcher this season.
- Earlier this season, junior left-handed pitcher Estelle Czech tossed 15.0 straight innings of scoreless softball from March 1, 2023 against North Texas to March 11, 2023 against Wisconsin.
