Alfred named Big 12 Outdoor Performer of the Week

Alfred now holds four Big 12 weekly honors this season.
AUSTIN, Texas - Julien Alfred has been named the Big 12 Women's Performer of the Week, as announced by the conference on Wednesday.
The 11-time All-American opened her individual outdoor season winning the 200-meter dash at the Tom Jones Memorial Invitational with a time of 21.91 and recorded the second fastest time in collegiate history along the way. The time also ranks as the Texas program record, surpassing Kynnedy Flannel's previous record of 22.23 set last season at the Big 12 outdoor championships.
Alfred also won the 100-meter dash with a wind-aided time of 10.72 - the fastest all-conditions time in NCAA history.
The award marks the fourth time this season and second outdoor that Alfred has won the conference honor. Alfred and the team of Ezinne Abba, Rhasidat Adeleke and Kevona Davis were all tabbed with the honor after setting the collegiate record in the 4x100-meter relay at the Texas Relays with a time of 42.00.
Alfred returns to the track in two weeks for the Texas Invitational on April 28-29.
