Alfred, Neugebauer, Smith and Floréal earn USTFCCCA regional awards

Julien Alfred, Leo Neugebauer, Ackelia Smith and Edrick Floréal have earned USTFCCCA South Central Regional Awards.
AUSTIN, Texas – Julien Alfred, Leo Neugebauer, Ackelia Smith and Edrick Floréal have earned USTFCCCA South Central Regional Awards after their historic outdoor seasons as announced by the USTFCCCA office on Thursday afternoon.
Julien Alfred took the sprint world by storm this outdoor season and was named the USTFCCCA South Central Region Women's Track Athlete of the Year. She led the NCAA by scoring 22.5 points and dominated remained undefeated in both the 100m and the 200m completing the double with winning times of 10.94w and 21.73w. She helped the Longhorns break the 4x100 relay record four times this season with the fastest coming through at 41.55 in the NCAA semis. She entered the NCAA meet with the world-leading 200m time and went on to set the collegiate all-conditions fastest time. Alfred is now a 14-time All-American, completed the double in both indoor and outdoor and helped Texas go back-to-back in the 4x100 relays.
Ackelia Smith was tabbed with the USTFCCCA South Central Region Women's Field Athlete of the Year scoring 18 points at the NCAA meet after winning the long jump with a mark of 6.88m (22-7). She later finished as the runner-up in the triple jump with her mark of 14.54m (47-8.5), the Texas program record. Her series in the triple jump all ranked among the top-seven in UT outdoor history. Smith became the first Longhorn (male or female, indoor or outdoor) to ever finish among the top-two in both the long jump and triple jump at the same NCAA Championship.
Neugebauer's heroics in the men's decathlon led him to be named the USTFCCCA South Central Region Men's Field Athlete of the Year. Neugebauer broke the collegiate record with 8,836 points and equaled the meet record, while also breaking the 39-year Germany national record along the way. His score is also the No. 8 performance in world history after setting six personal records in 10 events.
Floréal was named the USTFCCCA South Central Region Women's Coach of the Year after leading the Longhorns to its fifth women's NCAA Outdoor Track and Field title. Flo's Longhorns won five events at the NCAA meet, along with leading the women to break the 4x100 collegiate record four times and setting the new collegiate record in both the 4x200 relay and the sprint medley relay earlier this season. The Longhorns also claimed its fourth straight Big 12 Outdoor title along the way to its historic outdoor season.
