Baseball’s Campbell and Gordon selected on day two of the MLB Draft

The 2023 MLB First-Year Player Draft will conclude on Tuesday with Rounds 11-20.
AUSTIN, Texas – Texas Baseball had two players selected on day two of the 2023 Major League Baseball Draft on Monday, with outfielder Dylan Campbell picked in the fourth round by the Los Angeles Dodgers and LHP Lucas Gordon taken in the sixth round to the Chicago White Sox.
Campbell, who was selected with the 136th overall pick by the Dodgers, batted .339 and led the Longhorns with 65 runs scored and 26 stolen bases. He finished with 19 doubles, 13 homers, 50 RBI and had a Texas and Big 12 record 38 game hitting streak. A First Team All-Big 12 selection and a Third Team All-American, Campbell played in 161 career games with a .295 batting average, 24 home runs, 86 RBI and 115 runs scored.
Gordon, who was taken with the 179th overall pick by the White Sox, was named the Big 12 Pitcher of the Year and went 7-2 with a 2.63 ERA. He led the Longhorns with 102.2 innings pitched and 103 strikeouts. Also a First Team All-American pick by Collegiate Baseball in 2023, Gordon logged 210 career innings with a 14-4 record, a 2.87 ERA and 199 strikeouts.
Texas Baseball signee Travis Sykora was also selected by the Washington Nationals with the 71st overall pick.
