AUSTIN, Texas – Looking to establish itself as a top four seed for the upcoming 2024 SEC Soccer Tournament, The University of Texas women's soccer program will travel to Athens, Ga., where it'll play its final regular season match of the season against the Georgia Bulldogs at 3 p.m. CT / 4 p.m. ET on Sunday, Oct. 27.
TELEVISION: Jeff Dantzler (play by play) and Weldon Kolker (analyst) will call the match's action on SEC Network+ that will be available to stream on the ESPN app.
SERIES HISTORY:
- The all-time series history between Texas and Georgia women's soccer only spans a home-and-home series over a three-year span.
- The Longhorns and Bulldogs played their first-ever match on Aug. 26, 2011, when Texas earned a 3-0 win in Athens.
- Two years later on Aug. 23, 2013, UT picked up a 2-0 victory over UGA in a match played on the Forty Acres.
- The Longhorns and Bulldogs played their first-ever match on Aug. 26, 2011, when Texas earned a 3-0 win in Athens.
- In just two all-time meetings, the Texas defense has not surrendered a goal to Georgia.
- Including her 2013 match against Georgia, Texas head coach Angela Kelly is 12-4-0 all time against the Bulldogs, a mark that is highlighted by a 11-4-0 record from Kelly's time (2000-11) as the head coach of the Tennessee Volunteers.
- A Kelly-led squad has won their last three consecutive matches against Georgia and four of their last five overall.
KICKING OFF:
- As a result of her second-half, match-tying goal against Missouri on Thursday night, Lexi Missimo surpassed 31 points on the season, becoming the first women's soccer student-athlete to score 30-or-more points in a single season since Arkansas' Riley Mattingly Parker finished the 2022 campaign with 41.
- Missimo, a senior midfielder, will enter the final regular season match of her collegiate soccer career as the only student-athlete in the SEC to score 30-or-more (31) points this season.
- Missimo is also in a three-way with South Carolina's Catherine Barry and Arkansas' Gianna Paul for the most goals scored this season with 11.
- In conference-only action, no one has scored more points (14) than Missimo entering the final regular season match.
- Texas' freshman forward Amalia Villarreal will enter Sunday's match tied atop the SEC leaderboard in goals scored in conference-only action with five.
- Villarreal, a Lansing, Mich., native, is one of four women's soccer student-athletes to have scored five goals in SEC action.
- Additionally, Villarreal is one of just two freshmen — South Carolina's Katie Shea Collins — to achieve the feat.
- With her next start, Texas' fifth-year defender Lauren Lapomarda will tie Kasey Moore (2005-08) for the most starts by a Longhorn women's soccer student-athlete with 91.
- If she earns the win between the pipes on Sunday afternoon, Texas senior goalkeeper Mia Justus will become just the sixth goalkeeper in program history to win 30-or-more matches during their time on the Forty Acres.
- Justus will join Dianna Pfenninger as the only Texas goalkeeper to win 30-or-more matches over a two-year span.
- Pfenninger won 16 matches during both the 2006 and 2007 seasons, while Justus won 17 in 2023 and would pick up number 13 with a victory over the Bulldogs.
- Justus' 30th win would also move her into a tie with Alexa Gaul (2009-11) for fifth on the program's goalkeeper wins list.
- Justus will join Dianna Pfenninger as the only Texas goalkeeper to win 30-or-more matches over a two-year span.
