Reigning SEC Champions, No. 21 Soccer inks top five recruiting class

Nine signees make up Texas’ latest signing class
AUSTIN, Texas – On Wednesday, The University of Texas women's soccer head coach Angela Kelly has announced the signing of nine prep student-athletes to Athletic Scholarship Agreements (ASA) to play soccer on the Forty Acres. The nine-member class, which is features seven ranked 114th-or-higher in the country, is ranked as the fifth-best freshman class in the country, according to Top Drawer Soccer.
"I'm really excited about this group," Kelly said. "We are bringing in student-athletes who will be able to contribute to our program immediately. They are from all four regions of the country, which is exceptional. There's also a lot of variety within the positions with three forwards, three midfielders, two defenders and one goalkeeper. I'm really excited about the versatility of the group and the competitiveness of the group. Our expectations are they are going to step on the Forty Acres and contribute immediately."
The class is made up of F Ava McDonald (FC Dallas), D Cameron Byrd (Solar SC), F Audrey Bryant (Solar SC), GK Mateya Dessieux (Tophat SC), F Anne Gnidula (Connecticut FC), M Ava Cashman (Slammers FC HB Koge), M Sadie Hoch (Slammers FC HB Koge), D Pearce Groer (FC Alliance (TN)) and M Brooke Martinez (San Antonio City SC).

Ava McDonald
Position: Forward
Hometown: Allen, Texas

Ranked as the No. 7 overall prospect, according to Top Drawer Soccer, McDonald has participated in three USYNT camps at the U16, U17 and U19 stages, while also competing with the USYNT U19 squad at the 2023 Pan-American Games … during a runner-up effort at the PanAm Games, she turned in a hat trick performance against Venezuela … also participated in a U19 USYNT training camp at and two games against Spain's U19 squad in May 2024 … a two-time ECNL All-Conference performer, she scored 20-plus goals for FC Dallas ECNL over the last two seasons … helped guide FC Dallas to the 2022-23 ECNL League Championship …
