No. 14 Volleyball sweeps Auburn

AUBURN, Ala. – No. 14 Texas Volleyball started its Alabama road trip with a sweep of Auburn, 25-11, 25-21, 25-15, in front of a record crowd of 3,940 at Neville Arena.
The Longhorns (14-6, 9-3) will continue their weekend road trip against Alabama in Tuscaloosa on Sunday at noon with the match broadcast on ESPN.
Madisen Skinner had her second-straight match with 20+ kills and came just short of another double-double with 23 kills and nine digs.
Keonilei Akana and Emma Halter were both outstanding on the back row, as Akana had a season-high 20 digs and Halter finished with 19. They also both had two service aces in the match.
Ayden Ames had a great match with nine kills and two blocks, while Marianna Singletary had six kills and six bocks.
Averi Carlson dished out 41 assists and posted a double-double with 11 digs.
The Longhorns stormed out to a great start, with a 25-11 win in the first set. It was an all-around dominant set as Texas hit .378, had five blocks and held the Tigers to a negative hitting percentage. Skinner led the way for the Longhorns with nine kills and a .600 hitting percentage in the set.
Auburn bounced back in the second set and kept it very close, but the Longhorns were able to grab a 2-0 lead in the match with a 25-21 win. Ayden Ames had a clutch performance with four kills late in the set, including kills for the final two points.
After the Longhorns started fast in the third set, Auburn came back to cut the lead to 11-10. From that point though it was all Texas, as they outscored Auburn 14-5 to close out the sweep.
