No. 15 Volleyball wins at Mississippi State

The Longhorns bounced back with a four-set win over the Bulldogs on Wednesday night.
STARKVILLE, Miss. – No. 15 Volleyball bounced back with a four-set win over Mississippi State, 25-8, 25-15, 21-25, 25-17, on Wednesday at the Newell-Grissom Building.
The Longhorns (13-6, 8-3) hit .372 in the match, finished with 11 blocks and held the Bulldogs to a .133 hitting percentage.
Madisen Skinner had a stellar night, with a season-high 25 kills while hitting .408 in the match. She posted her third-consecutive double-double and fifth of the season with 10 digs.
Reagan Rutherford added nine kills, while Ayden Ames tied her career-high with eight kills and led the team with seven total blocks. Jenna Wenaas finished with a team-high 17 digs and added eight kills.
Averi Carlson dished out a season-high 45 assists and added eight digs. Emma Halter had a nice night with 15 digs, six assists and three service aces.
The Longhorns put together one of their best sets of the season to open the match, rolling to a 25-8 win. Texas hit .448 in the set and had six blocks to hold Mississippi State to a -.250 hitting percentage with just three kills in the set. Skinner led the way with six kills and a .500 hitting percentage.
Texas grabbed a 2-0 lead in the match with a 25-15 win in the second set. The Longhorns hit .378 in the set and held the Bulldogs to a .119 hitting percentage. Skinner added five more kills in the second set to lead the Longhorns.
Mississippi State battled back in the third set, hitting .316, to win it 25-21 and send the match to a fourth set. The Longhorns trailed for the majority of the set and hit just .235.
Skinner took over in the fourth set, racking up nine kills along to lead Texas to a 25-17 win.
The Longhorns will have a nine-day layoff before heading back on the road to face Auburn on Nov. 15 and Alabama on Nov. 17.
