No. 13 Volleyball advances with sweep of A&M-Corpus Christi

AUSTIN, Texas – No. 13 Texas Volleyball swept Texas A&M-Corpus Christi, 25-11, 25-23, 25-12, in the NCAA First Round on Thursday at Gregory Gymnasium.
The Longhorns (19-6) advance to the NCAA Second Round to face USC on Friday at 6:30 p.m. at Gregory Gym.
Madisen Skinner led the way with 15 kills and posted her team-high seventh double-double with 11 digs, while hitting .444 in the match.
The Texas middle blockers both had great matches, as Marianna Singletary had 10 kills and three blocks and Ayden Ames finished with eight kills and five blocks.
Averi Carlson dished out 38 assists and added two kills, one service and one dig. Emma Halter led the back row with 10 digs and one assist.
The Longhorns rolled to a 25-11 win in the opening set, hitting .560 and holding the Islanders to an .040 hitting percentage. Skinner and Rutherford led the way with four kills apiece, while Ames and Singletary each added three kills.
Texas held on for a 25-23 win in the second set as the Islanders put up a fight in the second set. The Longhorns still managed to hit .317 in the set and Skinner added eight more kills to lead the way.
The Longhorns closed out the final set emphatically, rolling to a 25-12 win to complete the sweep.
