No. 9 Men’s Swim wraps home slate at Sterkel Classic

The Longhorns head to Dallas next week for a dual meet with SMU.
AUSTIN, Texas – No. 9 Texas Men's Swimming closed out the home portion of the season on Saturday in The Sterkel Classic at the Lee & Joe Jamail Texas Swimming Center.
Camden Taylor collected a pair of victories, winning the 50 free with a career-best time of 19.86, then adding a win and another career best in the 500 free with a swim of 4:24.87.
Cole Crane won the 100 free in a season-best 43.88 and Nate Germonprez won the 100 back with a B-cut and career-best 47.03.
Coby Carrozza had a career-best swim in the 400 IM of 3:47.14 to earn the victory.
The quarter of Nate Germonprez, Aleksej Filipovic, Will Modglin and Taylor combined for a 1:17.40 in the 200 free relay, narrowly missing the B-standard.
Texas will square off with SMU in Dallas on Friday, Feb. 9 for the final dual meet of the season. Swimming is set to begin at 5 p.m. CT.
Team Notes
- Finn Winkler was the runner-up in the 100 free in 44.60.
- Sam Artmann took second in the 200 free with a season-best 1:38.08, while Ethan Doehler also posted a season best with a swim of 1:38.86 to place third.
- Modglin placed second in the 100 breast in a season-best 54.20 and Alexander Turney took third in 54.64.
- Filipovic placed third in the 500 free with a swim of 4:34.87.
