No. 9 Men’s Swim & Dive adds three event victories on day four of Big 12 Championship

Texas has collected victories in 13 of 16 events during the conference meet.
MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – No. 9 Texas Men's Swimming & Diving earned three victories on the fourth day of competition at the Big 12 Conference Championship on Friday at The Aquatic Center at Mylan Park. The Longhorns have won 13 of the 16 events held during the meet.
Freshman Will Scholtz earned his first career individual title with a victory in the 100 breaststroke, touching the wall in 52.09, a career-best swim that placed him seventh on Texas' all-time performer list. Freshman teammate Brayden Taivassalo won silver with a lifetime best of his own, swimming 52.28 to enter the Texas all-time Top-10 as the ninth-fastest performer in the event.
Will Modglin followed with a gold-medal performance in the 100 back, touching the wall in 44.75, the eighth-fastest swim in UT history. It marked the freshman's second individual gold of the meet after winning the 200 IM on Wednesday. Senior Chris O'Connor collected silver in the event with a time of 46.41.
The Longhorns added a third win in the 200 free relay, as senior Peter Paulus IV and freshmen Camden Taylor, Nate Germonprez and Modglin combined for a season-best swim of 1:17.02.
Senior Cole Crane opened the finals session wining silver for Texas in the 200 fly with a career-best swim of 1:42.02, entering the UT all-time ranks as the ninth-fastest performer in the event. Ryan Branon earned bronze with a season-best swim of 1:43.08.
The Big 12 Championship conclude on Saturday with prelims beginning at 8:15 a.m. CT and finals starting at 4:15 p.m. CT. The final session will be streamed live on Big 12 Now on ESPN+.
