Former Longhorn earns his first PGA TOUR victory this year and seventh career TOUR win.
ORLANDO, Fla. — Former University of Texas star Scottie Scheffler fired a final-round 6-under 66 on Sunday to post a five-stroke victory at the Arnold Palmer Invitational presented by Mastercard at Bay Hill Club. The win marked the 99th official PGA TOUR victory for The University of Texas Men's Golf program, accomplished by 17 different individuals in the 98-year history of the TOUR.
Scheffler's win marked his first PGA TOUR victory during the 2024 calendar year and the seventh overall in his career. He claimed the title at the Arnold Palmer Invitational for the second time in the last three years.
Scheffler registered a 72-hole score of 15-under-par 273 (70-67-70-66) to beat Wyndham Clark (10-under 278) by five strokes. Tied for the lead entering Sunday's final round, Scheffler opened with a 12-foot birdie on the opening hole and built a three-shot lead by the turn. After birdies at holes 10 and 11, he was never threatened on the back nine. Scheffler's five-stroke win marked the largest margin at Bay Hill since Tiger Woods in 2012.
