Texas to welcome BYU to Red & Charline McCombs Field for first time since 2016
AUSTIN, TX – For the second consecutive weekend, The University of Texas softball program will face off against a first-year Big 12 Conference member when the third-ranked Longhorns and BYU Cougars begin a three-game conference series at 6 p.m. CT on Thursday, March 14.
Television: Alex Loeb (play by play) and Cat Osterman (analyst) will call the series' action on the Longhorn Network.

LEADING OFF
- BYU, which joined the Big 12 Conference on July 1, 2023, will make its first trip to the Forty Acres since the Cougars and Longhorns played a three-game series in 2016, which the Longhorns won after taking a doubleheader, 5-0 and 7-0, on April 2.
- Entering this week's three-game series, Texas claims a 7-2 all-time record in nine games against BYU dating back to the first-ever meeting — which the Longhorns won 1-0 — between the two programs on Feb. 25, 2005 in Cathedral City, Calif.
- If she is penned into Texas' starting lineup on Thursday, it'll mark the 150th consecutive start for junior Mia Scott, who has started every game of her collegiate softball career since arriving on the Forty Acres prior to the 2022 season.
- Scott, an Angleton, Texas native, enters this week's three-game series just 73 games shy of tying Devon Tunning (2014-17), Stephanie Ceo (2013-16) and Loryn Johnson (2007-10) for 10th on the program's career games started list.
- Fueled by her three-home run weekend in Houston, Texas senior Alyssa Washington has already set a personal single-season career high with six home runs in just 53 official plate appearances.
- Washington's previous single-season career high was five home runs, which is accomplished on 172 at bats as a sophomore in 2022.
- Following her run-scoring at bat in Baton Rouge on Tuesday, March 12, Reese Atwood is now just one sacrifice fly shy of tying the program's single-season sacrifice fly record that is helped by Mary Iakopo (2022), Alyssa Washington (2022) and Taylor Ellsworth (2017).
- Despite her 19-game on-base streak being snapped at LSU on Tuesday, March 12, Texas freshman Katie Stewart still has successfully reached base in all 12 collegiate softball games she's played at Red & Charline McCombs Field.
- Stewart is the only active Longhorn softball student-athlete to achieve that feat through this point of the 2024 season.
- Having scored 26 runs in 24 games of the 2024 season, Texas junior Mia Scott has now touched home plate on 141 different occasions throughout her career on the Forty Acres, which is the eighth most by a single student-athlete in the program's history.
- Scott is 14 runs back of tying Lindsey Stephens (155, 2013-16) for seventh place and 14 back of tying Desiree Williams (156, 2005-09) for sixth.
- Mia Scott will enter this week's series against the Cougars just 19 hits shy of surpassing the 200-career-hit plateau and just 26 back of tying Keely Franks (1997-2000) for 10th on the program's career hits leader board.
