Beach Volleyball wraps up Day 1 at LBSU Tournament

The Longhorns took on Long Beach State and Cal State Northridge for their first competition of the season.
LONG BEACH, Calif. – Texas Beach Volleyball wrapped up it's first competition day of the season with matches against Long Beach State and Cal State Northridge in the LBSU Tournament at Long Beach City College.
The Longhorns were swept by Long Beach State to start the day but came up just short of taking down CSUN in the second match of the day.
Macey Butler and Kelly McCloskey were the first Texas pair to win on the season, beating CSUN's Buckley/Sweeting, 2-0 on Court No. 4. Presley Wright and Hannah Ogden also pulled out a win, 2-1, over Miles/Lindhart in thrilling fashion on the third court. Wright and Ogden needed extra points to win the first set before dropping the second in extra points.
Devin Kahahawai and Katie Hashman came up just short of winning against CSUN and giving the Longhorns their first win of the year.
Against Long Beach State, on court No. 4 Butler and McCloskey won the first set against the LBSU pair Deroos/Widener but were unable to pick up their first win of the season.
Wright and Hannah went to extra points in the first set on court No. 3 but came up just short and fell 2-0 to Gibson/Glenn.
