Beach Volleyball wins twice at Islander Classic

The Longhorns defeated UT Martin and SFA on the first day of the Islander Classic.

CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas – Texas Beach Volleyball defeated UT Martin and Stephen F. Austin on Day 1 of the Islander Classic at Water's Edge Park on Friday.

The Longhorns (4-4) started the day with a 4-1 win over UT Martin with Ava Patton and Presley Wright clinching the win on Court No. 3. Katie Hashman and Emma Grace Robertson picked up the first win at No. 1, while Ayden Ames and Hannah Ogden won comfortably in the No. 4 flight. Macey Butler and Devin Kahahawai capped off the match with a three-set win at No. 2

In the second match of the day, Texas took down SFA 3-2 with the No. 1 pair of Hashman/Robertson clinching the win with a tough three-set battle.

Ames/Ogden won comfortably at No. 3 to start the match before Jenna Wenaas and Ella Swindle won a tough match at Court No. 5.

The Longhorns will be back in action on Saturday against UTEP at 11:30 a.m. and the hosts Texas A&M-Corpus Christi at 2 p.m. The finale against the Islanders will be broadcast on ESPN+.
