Kristine Blazevica finishes with bronze medal at NCAAs in pentathlon

Freshman Aaliyah Foster scores in first-ever NCAA meet
BOSTON, Mass. – The No. 3/3 Texas track and field program closed out the second day of the NCAA Indoor Championships led by four Longhorns – Kristine Blazevica, Aaliyah Foster, Brian Herron and Leo Neugebauer.
Blazevica captured the bronze medal in the women's pentathlon after scoring 4,427 points just shy of her school record performance. The six-time First Team All-American's day was highlighted from her winning 800-meter run (2:13.19) and her jump of 6.20m (20-4.25) in the long jump that matched her personal best. She added a time of 8.45 in the 60-meter hurdles, cleared 1.72m (5-7.75) in the high jump and threw for 12.43m (40-9.50) in shot put for her third-place finish. Blazevica scored six team points.
In her first NCAA meet, Aaliyah Foster scored one point finishing eighth in the long jump with her jump of 6.35m (20-10). Ackelia Smith finished 12th with a jump of 6.21m (20-4.50).
Sophomore Dejanea Oakley finished 16th in the 400-meter prelims with her time of 53.50, junior Emelia Chatfield was 10th in the 60-meter hurdles with her time of 8.09 and senior Kevona Davis finished 14th in the 200-meter in 23.35. All three finished with Second Team All-America honors.
On the men's side, Herron was the lone male to advance to Saturday's finals after he finished with the fifth-fastest 400-meter time in 45.97 seconds.
Neugebauer leads the heptathlon competition after four events on day one with 3,664 points. He concluded the day with a personal-best clearance in the high jump of 2.09m (6-10.25), had the top throw of 16.72m (54-10.25) in shot put, the second-best jump in long jump (7.73m/25-4.50) and the fourth-fastest 60-meter dash time (6.98). The seven-time All-American will conclude the heptathlon Saturday morning beginning with pole vault.
All-Americans Yusuf Bizimana and Cole Lindhorst finished the season as USTFCCCA Second Team All-Americans in the 800-meter after Bizimana finished 10th with a time of 1:47.87 and Lindhorst 14th in 1:52.07.
Marcellus Moore also finished with Second Team All-America honors with his 14th-place finish in the men's 60-meter dash with a time of 6.67.
