No. 6 Volleyball falls at No. 2 Stanford

PALO ALTO, Calif. – No. 6 Texas Volleyball was swept by No. 2 Stanford, 25-16, 25-21, 25-22, in front of a crowd of 6,894 on Sunday at Maples Pavilion.
The Longhorns (3-3) will be back in action at Baylor on Wednesday at 8 p.m. at the Ferrell Center.
Madisen Skinner led the Longhorns with 12 kills and added seven digs and two blocks. Ella Swindle dished out 24 assists, while Emma Halter finished with a team-high 11 digs. Ayden Ames added six kills and had a team-high five blocks.
Stanford jumped out to a big lead in the first set and cruised to a 25-16 win to open the match. The Cardinal hit .433, while holding the Longhorns to just a .171 hitting percentage.
The Cardinal grabbed a 2-0 lead in the match with a 25-21 win in the second set. The Longhorns held Stanford to a .184 hitting percentage in the set but were unable to pull even in the match.
The Longhorns held a 7-5 lead in the third set before Stanford rattled off a 9-1 run to grab a commanding 14-8 lead. The Cardinal would go on to complete to sweep with a 25-22 win.
The next home match for Texas will be against Hawaii on Friday at 6:30 p.m. at Gregory Gym.
