No. 8 Volleyball sweeps No. 20 Baylor on the road

WACO, Texas – No. 8 Texas Volleyball got another big bounce-back win with a sweep of No. 20 Baylor, 25-17, 25-23, 26-24, on Wednesday night at the Ferrell Center.
The Longhorns (4-3) had a season-high 12 blocks to stifle the Bears' offense all night, holding them to a .143 hitting percentage.
Madisen Skinner led the team with 14 kills, while hitting a season-best .417. She also added six digs and five blocks. Reagan Rutherford finished with 11 kills and hit .529 in the match.
Marianna Singletary finished with a career-best nine blocks and added five kills.
Both of the Longhorns' setters had good matches as Ella Swindle had 19 assists and five digs, while Averi Carlson had a double-double with 17 assists and 12 digs.
The Longhorns got out to a great start with 25-17 win the opening set, hitting .500 and holding the Bears to an .094 hitting percentage. Rutherford led the way for Texas with four kills on just five attacks.
The second set was much closer and went back-and-forth all the way until the end. Texas trailed 11-9 in the second set before going on a 7-1 run to grab a 16-12 lead. Baylor later put together a long run of its own to retake the lead in the set 19-18. The teams then traded points all the way to the end before Texas pulled it out 25-23.
The Longhorns trailed for the majority of the third set and were down 24-23 before rattling off three-straight points to secure the sweep with a 26-24 win.
Texas is back in action at Gregory Gym against Hawaii on Wednesday at 6:30 p.m.
