Texas to continue search for first SEC victory on trip to Oxford, Miss.
AUSTIN, Texas – The University of Texas women's soccer program will look for its first conference win since joining the Southeastern Conference (SEC) when the Longhorns travel to Oxford, Miss., for a Thursday night showdown against Ole Miss at 6 p.m. on Sept. 26.
TELEVISION: For the second time this season, Texas will be featured on the SEC Network as Mike Watts (play by play) and Jill Loyden (analyst) will call the match's action on the television broadcast.
SERIES HISTORY:
- Thursday night's match will mark just the second-ever meeting on the pitch between Texas and Ole Miss' women's soccer programs and the first since 2003.
- The two teams last met on Nov. 14, 2003, when the Rebels knocked off the Longhorns, 1-0, in Gainesville, Fla., in the opening round of the 2003 NCAA Tournament.
- In the match, Texas out shot Ole Miss, 12-8, and recorded seven corner kicks to the Rebels' one attempt.
- Thursday's action will be the first time Texas will play a soccer match in Oxford, Miss.
- In fact, it'll be the first home or road match for either team in the series history after the only previous matchup was a neutral-site meeting.
- Throughout her time at Tennessee (2000-11), head coach Angela Kelly posted a 9-1-2 all-time record against Ole Miss.
- Kelly will enter this week's matchup against the Rebels unbeaten in her last nine consecutive meetings.
- She last loss to Ole Miss on Oct. 5, 2003, when the Rebels knocked off then-No. 23 Tennessee, 1-0, in Knoxville.

KICKING OFF:
- When she takes the pitch for Thursday night's match, Hannah Waesch will appear in her 91st career match spanning a five-year career between Auburn (2020-23) and Texas (2023-25).
- Waesch will enter this week's match one of just 11 active Division I women's soccer student-athletes to appear in 90-or-more career collegiate soccer matches.
- She is one of five student-athletes around the SEC – Alabama's Gessica Skorka (94), South Carolina's Corinna Zullo (91), Texas A&M's Allison Lowery (90), Florida's Emile Hauser (90) and Waesch (90) — on the list.
- Waesch appeared in 56 career matches in three seasons at Auburn, before adding 34 to her total in her two seasons in Austin.
- Waesch will enter this week's match one of just 11 active Division I women's soccer student-athletes to appear in 90-or-more career collegiate soccer matches.
- With her next point, Texas freshman forward Amalia Villarreal will become the first freshman Longhorn women's soccer student-athlete to score 11-or-more points in a season since Trinity Byars finished her first season on the Forty Acres in 2021 with 34 points (12 goals, 10 assists).
- In 2023, Avery Clark finished with 10 points (3 goals, 4 assists) in 22 matches played, while Liz Worden had 10 points (3 goals, 4 assists) in 18 matches throughout the 2022 campaign.
- The Texas freshman single-season point record is 38 (13 goals, 12 assists) set by Kelly Wilson during the 2001 campaign.
- Heading into Thursday evening's action, Texas head coach Angela Kelly, in 126 matches during her time in the SEC, has lost back-to-back regular season SEC matches just five times over the course of 13 seasons in the league.
