Texas looks to stay undefeated on the Forty Acres during the 2024 season following Sunday’s matchup against LBSU
AUSTIN, Texas – For the fourth consecutive match, The University of Texas women's soccer program will do business at Mike A. Myers Stadium, where the Longhorns will take on Long Beach State at 6 p.m. on Sunday, Sept. 8.
TELEVISION: Graham Doty (play by play) and Madison Hogue (analyst) will serve as the broadcast talent for the SEC Network+ production that can be streamed on the ESPN app.
KICKING OFF
- Madison Hogue, who will serve as the analyst for the SEC Network+ production, was a five-year letterwinner for the Texas Longhorn women's soccer program after serving as a goalkeeper on the Forty Acres from 2018 to 2022.
- When Long Beach State comes to the Forty Acres for Sunday's match, it'll mark the return of the 5-foot-9 forward Liz Worden to Austin after the Riverside, Calif., native began her collegiate women's soccer career at Texas before transferring to LBSU after appearing in 33 matches in the Burnt Orange and White.
- Worden scored five goals and was credited with six assists for 16 points on 49 shots, including 19 on goal, en route to earning Big 12 Conference Freshman of the Week honors on Aug. 23, 2022.
- With one more goal, Texas' senior midfielder Lexi Missimo will become the latest member of the 50-goal, 50-assist club within NCAA Division I women's soccer.
- The Southlake native will begin Sunday's contest with 49 goals and 54 assists throughout 6320:36 during 72 career collegiate soccer matches.
- When Hannah Waesch surpasses 34 minutes played against Long Beach State, The Colony, Texas native will surpass 7,000 career minutes played on the pitch as a collegiate soccer student-athlete.
- Waesch has played 2128:29 in 30 career matches during two and a half seasons on the Forty Acres after playing three campaigns at Auburn en route to totaling 6967:29 of career minutes played.
- Sunday night's contest between Texas and Long Beach State will mark the first time The Beach has traveled to the Forty Acres since the 2018 season, when the Longhorns knocked off LBSU, 2-1, in Austin on Aug. 30, 2018.
- Overall, Texas has won both matchups against Long Beach State following a 2023 matchup that the Longhorns won, 4-3, in the closing minutes courtesy of a header by then-first-year Longhorn Abby Allen in her UT debut.
- UT, in two all-time matchups against LBSU, has outscored The Beach, 6-4, in two all-time contests between the programs.
- Overall, Texas has won both matchups against Long Beach State following a 2023 matchup that the Longhorns won, 4-3, in the closing minutes courtesy of a header by then-first-year Longhorn Abby Allen in her UT debut.
- With her next assist, third-year Longhorn Jilly Shimkin will have 24 assists for her Texas career, which would move the New York native to fifth on the program's career assist list and pass Amy Burlingham (2003-06) for the spot.
