Track and Field wins four events at Dr. MLK Jr. Invitational

Three Longhorns move up on the UT all-time performer list.
ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. – The Texas track and field team opened the first day of the Dr. MLK Jr. Invitational with four event wins and saw three Longhorns move on the UT All-Time Performer List.
Solomon Washington won the first event of the day after jumping 7.75m (25-5.25) in the long jump. Brennen McHenry was seventh at 7.17m (23-6.25). On the women's side, Aaliyah Foster matched her personal best with a jump of 6.46m (21-2.50) to finish as the runner-up. Tabea Eitel was fifth at 6.03m (19-9.50).
Osawese Agbonkonkon matched his mark in the high jump from last weekend and cleared 2.12m (6-11.50) to win his first event for Texas. Sam Hurley cleared the same height and was third after needing two attempts at 2.07m.
Brandon Schirck was fourth in the men's weight throw with his throw of 17.88m (58-8). The mark improved his mark at No. 10 on the UT All-Time Performer list.
On the track, Logan Popelka posted the top-collegiate time in the 200-meter dash at 20.77 and moved to No. 4 on the UT all-time performer list. The time currently ranks as the fifth-fastest time in the NCAA. Xavier Butler moved to No. 8 on the performer list after finishing fourth with a time of 20.86. John Rutledge was seventh in 21.04.
Kendrick Smallwood won the unseeded 200-meter dash with a time of 21.16 for a new personal best. Kody Blackwood (21.30) was fourth, Chris Brinkley Jr., (21.38) and Almond Small (21.43) took places 4-6, respectively.
Ramiah Elliott led a trio of Longhorns in the top spots of the 200-meter with her winning time of 23.26. Caleta Bernard was the runner-up in 23.27 and Kenondra Davis was third at 23.36.
Amir Thompson later won the men's 400-meter dash with a time of 47.64, while Mackenzie Collins won the women's in 56.03 and Holly Okuku made her Texas debut finishing third in 56.94. In the women's 600-meter run, Lauren Lewis finished third in 1:30.58.
