No. 2 Volleyball sweeps Georgia for third SEC win of the season

The Longhorns improved to 11-0 on the year.
ATHENS, Ga. — The No. 2 Texas Volleyball team swept Georgia (25-17, 25-21, 25-20) to improve to 11-0 on the year, including a 3-0 mark in SEC play. This marks the second straight season that the Longhorns have strung together six straight sweeps.
The Longhorns finished the night hitting .358, with their top three hitters hitting above .400, and totaled 40 kills. Texas handed the Bulldogs their third loss against ranked opponents and their fourth sweep of the season, holding their offense to a .218 percentage, below their season average of .243.
In the win, junior Torrey Stafford recorded her sixth double-double of the season with 14 kills and 11 digs. Junior Ella Swindle registered 37 assists along with eight digs, marking her fourth straight game with at least 30 assists. Sophomore Rella Binney recorded her 100th career assist, while Ayden Ames registered her 200th career kill in the victory.
Set One: The Longhorns dominated the opening set by tallying 18 kills, while limiting the Bulldogs to a .152 hitting percentage and forcing five errors. Texas was led by Swindle, who notched 12 assists, along with Spears and Stafford, who combined for eight kills in the first set. The Longhorns have not lost a first set since November 30, 2024, against Ole Miss.
Set Two: In the closest set of the match, both teams traded points nine times, Texas gained control with a 5-1 run and eventually took the second set, 25-21. The Longhorns' offense was led by Stafford and Spears. The duo totaled 15 kills, while Swindle recorded 15 assists.
Set Three: Texas took the lead with a 5-1 run to seal its third conference win. The Longhorns were headlined by Stafford, Vander Wal, and Spears. The trio notched 16 total kills in the third set, five more than the Bulldogs total.
Texas will continue its road trip to Starkville, Miss., to face off against Mississippi State on Sunday, Oct. 5 at 2 p.m. CT.
