No. 2 Volleyball dominates Mississippi State, 3-0, to remain undefeated

Longhorns sweep seventh-straight opponent to improve to 12-0 on the season.
STARKVILLE, Miss. – No. 2 Texas Volleyball swept Mississippi State (25-13, 25-1, 25-15) to improve to 12-0 on the season and 4-0 in SEC play. Sunday's win marks the seventh-straight sweep for the Horns and ninth overall.
Texas was led by Torrey Stafford's 15 kills, five digs, three blocks and one ace. Junior setter Ella Swindle posted 32 assists and 10 digs for her third double double of the season. Sunday's sweep is the first time the Horns have swept seven in a row since 2019.
Set one: Texas took the first set for the seventh-straight match led behind Stafford's four kills and four digs. The Longhorns stretched its largest lead of the set at 23-11 behind three team blocks and an ace from Spears. Mississippi State was held to a negative hitting percentage (-0.23) and just 10 kills. It's the second-best set win for the Horns behind a 25-13 set win against Vanderbilt.
Set two: The second set was all about the scoring runs. The Bulldogs jump out to a 10-6 lead, but a 5-0 scoring run from the Longhorns evened the score at 10. With Anja Kujundžić at the service line, UT took the 14-11 lead. In a back-and-forth set, Texas took the 2-0 lead behind the middles eight kills.
Set three: Stafford took control in the third with six kills and one block, while Swindle finished with 12 of her 32 assists. It's the sixth-straight match she's recorded 30 or more assists in a match.
Texas returns home to host No. 20 Tennessee on Oct. 8 for its third SEC home match of the season.
