Following doubles, Bailly produced an efficient 6-0, 6-1 win over Luke Casper. Bailly won the first eight games of the match with Casper only reaching 40 in the last of those, which was a deuce-point hold for Bailly. Casper then got his only game on a deuce-point hold before Bailly won the last four with two of those going to deuce to take the match and provide a 2-0 lead..
Legout was next off the court with a 6-4, 6-1 win over No. 60 Theo Papamalamis. Legout was the first to break for a 2-1 lead, however Papamalamis got the break back for 3-3. Legout then broke again, this time at deuce, to regain a 5-4 lead before serving out at deuce for the set. Legout broke to open the second set, and after Papamalamis held his next service game to pull within 2-1, Legout closed out the match on a 4-0 run with the last three of at deuce.
Just seconds before the clinch, junior No. 10 Sebastian Gorzny fell to No. 71 JC Roddick, 6-4, 7-5 at No. 2. Roddick broke first for a 3-2 lead, but Gorzny broke right back and then held, both at deuce, to take the lead back, 4-3. After Brown held his first serve at deuce for 1-1, he later was the first to break, which also came at deuce, for a 4-3 lead before he consolidated on another deuce point for 5-3. Patil then went on a 3-0 run for the lead, but Brown was able to hold to send it to a tiebreakers. In the second set, Pires broke first for a 3-2 lead that he consolidated for 4-2 on a deuce point, but Braswell got the break back for 4-4. Tokac eventually got the break back, also at love, for 4-4, and after he held for a 5-4 lead, the last two games went to deuce, which is where the match stopped at 5-5 when play halted.
Earlier in doubles, Texas A&M picked up the first match as the No. 5 duo of Legout and Brown were downed by Tokac and Papamalamis, 6-3, at No. 1. The Aggies grabbed the only break of the match for a 3-1 lead, and the match stayed on serve from there despite the final three games reaching deuce.
