No. 12 Beach Volleyball falls to No. 1 UCLA and No. 2 LMU

Beach Volleyball opens the East Meets West Invitational.
MANHATTAN BEACH, California – No. 12 Texas Beach Volleyball finished day one of the East Meets West Invitational, falling to No. 1 UCLA (1-4) and No. 2 LMU (2-3).
UCLA scored its first three points of the day with a 21-16, 21-16 win over the No. 2 pair (Emma Grace Robertson/Katie Hashman), a 21-8, 23-21 win over the No. 4 pair (Macey Butler/Noa Sonneville), and a 21-13, 21-10 win over the No. 5 pair (Carys Patton/Kylie Wickley). The Longhorns added its only point against the Bruins with two 21-19 sets from the No. 3 pair of Karin Zolnercikova and Maddison Parmelly. Chloe Charles and Eva Liisa Kuivonen (No. 1) came just short, going into extra points in the third set, 21-19, 20-22, 15-17.
Texas started the second dual of the day with the No. 4 pair of Butler and Sonneville falling to LMU, 16-21, 12-21. Robertson and Hashman (No. 2) tied the match with a 21-17, 20-22, 15-12 win. The Lions won the next two matches against the No. 3 (Zolnercikova/Parmelly) and No. 5 (Presley Wright/Vivian Johnson) pairs, 21-14, 21-15 and 22-20, 21-16. The Longhorns added its second point with a 23-21, 23-21 win from the No. 1 pair of Charles and Kuivonen.
The Longhorns return tomorrow for the second day of the East Meets West Invitational with matches against No. 7 California Berkeley and No. 18 Hawaii.
