Sophomore becomes third Longhorn with eight RBI in a game since 2008
COLUMBIA, Mo. — Sophomore Will Gasparino mounted his first career multi-homer performance and drove in eight runs, as No. 7 Texas (21-3, 6-1 SEC) posted a 15-4 run-rule victory over Missouri (9-15, 0-7 SEC) on Friday night at Taylor Stadium.
Gasparino belted two of the Longhorns' co-season-high five home runs, helping Texas secure its best start to conference play in 13 years.
The center fielder became just the fourth Longhorn to tally eight RBI in a game since 2008, joining Brandon Belt (2008), Porter Brown (2023) and Eric Kennedy (2023).
Gasparino delivered a two-run single in the third, before launching a pair of three-run blasts in both the fourth and fifth frames.
Shortstop Jalin Flores sparked the home run derby, leaving the yard for the third time in the last four contests. Flores' no-doubt 418-foot solo shot put Texas ahead, 1-0.
The next inning, redshirt senior Kimble Schuessler smacked his first homer of the year to double the Longhorns' lead.
Then, right fielder Max Belyeu added a two-run jack in the third, extending the advantage to 4-0.
Belyeu's 406-foot opposite-field bomb kickstarted a seven-run frame for Texas.
The Longhorns scored all 15 of their runs over the first five innings to support left-handed hurler Jared Spencer (3-1).
Spencer silenced the Tigers through five frames, before Missouri put up a four-spot in the sixth.
Meanwhile, Mizzou southpaw Ian Lohse (0-4) was charged with the loss. Lohse surrendered six runs, five earned, in two innings of work.
Texas' 11-run margin marked its largest victory this season, as the Longhorns recorded their fourth run-rule win in 2025.
The Longhorns and Tigers will wrap up the three-game set with a doubleheader on Saturday. The first contest of the twin bill is set for 2 p.m., with the series finale slated for approximately 45 minutes after the conclusion of the front leg of the doubleheader.
