Smallwood breaks 110mH school record on third day of Texas Relays

Longhorns win six events and set one Texas Relays record.
AUSTIN, Texas – The third night of the 97th Clyde Littlefield Texas Relays presented by Truist saw the Texas Longhorns track and field team claim six event wins, broke one program record and set one Texas Relays record in front of a crowd of over 5,000.
Junior Kendrick Smallwood took down a 14-year program record in the 110-meter hurdles with his winning time of 13.35. Keiron Smith previously held the record set in 2011 at the NCAA Championships with his time of 13.44. In the women's 100-meter hurdles, sophomore Akala Garrett ran a personal best with a time of 13.09 – the second-fastest time of the day.
Garrett returned to the track and set the Texas Relays record in the 400-meter hurdles invitational with her time of 55.49. In the open 400m hurdles, freshman Mackenzie Collins was seventh with a time of 57.96.
In the men's 400m hurdles, junior Kody Blackwood broke the 50-second barrier for the first time in his career and moved to No. 8 on the UT All-Time Performer List. His time of 49.98 earned him the title of Texas Relays champion.
Carleta Bernard won the women's 100-meter timed final in 11.30, while freshman Nita Koom-Dadzie was third in 11.47.
The women of Bernard, Holly Okuku, Kenondra Davis and Nita Koom-Dadzie posted the second-fastest time of the day in the 4x100-meter relay prelims at 43.77. The Longhorns will compete in Saturday's Carlette Guidry 4x100-meter final.
The men's 4x100 relay of Kendrick Smallwood, Logan Popelka, Xavier Butler and Almond Small posted the fourth-fastest time of the day in 39.73 and will look to defend its 2024 title.
The 4x400-meter relay team of Damon Frabotta, Nabil Tezkratt, Chris Brinkley Jr., and Elijah Mosely advanced to the final with their time of 3:08.54.
In the field events, Osawese Agbonkonkon won the men's B high jump with a season best mark of 2.17m (7-1.50). Dylan Lineberger was the runner-up with a clearance of 2.12m (6-11.50). Brennen McHenry also won the men's B long jump with a personal best jump of 7.62m (25-0).
