Bailly named SEC Men’s Tennis Co-Scholar-Athlete of the Year

Senior Pierre-Yves Bailly was recognized by the conference for his performance in the classroom and on the court.
Columbia, S.C. – Texas Men's Tennis senior Pierre-Yves Bailly has been named the Southeastern Conference Men's Tennis Co-Scholar-Athlete of the Year, the conference announced on Friday. The award honors performance in the classroom and on the court, which Bailly shared with Petar Jovanovic of Mississippi State. Bailly was honored on the court prior to the Longhorns' SEC Championship quarterfinals match in Columbia, S.C.
Currently earning an economics degree with a 3.91 GPA in the prestigious McCombs School of Business, Bailly is a two-time Academic All-Big 12 selection, an ITA Scholar-Athlete and a member of the CSC Academic All-District Team.
In his first season in the SEC, Bailly has posted a 16-2 singles record in dual matches with a 7-2 mark SEC. That includes records of 4-1 at No. 2 and 12-1 at No. 3 with four ranked wins, two of which were in the top-15. He has also gone 13-6 in dual match doubles contests with an 8-4 record in SEC play, going 6-3 and 5-2 at Nos. 2 and 3, respectively, and 2-1 at No. 1. Overall this year, he is 19-6 in singles and 18-8 in doubles and is currently ranked No. 46 nationally in singles and No. 78 in doubles.
Bailly has reached career high individual rankings of 17 in singles and 48 in doubles. A three-time All-Big 12 selection (first-team singles 2023/second-team singles and doubles 2022), he was named Big 12 Freshman of the Year and the ITA Texas Region Newcomer of the Year in 2022. He is also a two-time Big 12 individual position champion and a three-time Big 12 All-Tournament Team honoree.
