No. 6 Women’s Golf earns top seed in NCAA Lubbock Regional

AUSTIN, Texas — The No. 6 Texas Women's Golf team will begin its NCAA postseason journey May 5-7 at the NCAA Lubbock Regional, which will take place at the Rawls Course in Lubbock, Texas. Texas will be making its 17th straight NCAA Regional appearance. The Longhorns are the No. 1 seed at that regional site, which was unveiled during the NCAA Division I Women's Golf Championship selection show on Wednesday.
Seventy-two teams and 36 individuals have been selected to compete at one of six regional championship sites, each featuring 12 teams and six individuals. From regional competition, 30 teams and six individuals will advance to the national championship to be played May 16-21 at the Omni La Costa Resort & Spa in Carlsbad, Calif., and hosted by The University of Texas. The top five teams and top individual will advance from each regional site to make up the NCAA Championship field in California.
The Longhorns have won three golf tournaments this season. Farah O'Keefe and Lauren Kim have been named to the postseason watch list for the ANNIKA Award. O'Keefe finished runner-up in the stroke play portion of the SEC Championship. Kim has finished in the top-10 in each of her last five tournaments.
The Longhorns are seeking to advance to the NCAA Championship for the ninth-straight season and 33rd time in program history. That streak does not include the 2020 NCAA Championship, which was canceled due to the COVID-19 global pandemic.
The Longhorns are one of four programs that have advanced to the NCAA Championship in each of the last eight seasons (Southern California, Stanford and Florida State are the three other programs).
